The #1 Station

The #1 station in my market……what does this mean?

TV stations tag themselves as being “#1” in their market based on local news ratings.

Is that important?  Yes, if we are placing Image spots in news.  We would definitely want to see if rates were affordable in the highest rated news in that case.

If we are placing a direct response schedule to generate as many calls as possible, not so much.  The focus is not ratings, but hitting the program that generates calls because the right demo is watching it.
