Aiming Higher

by Arnie Malham | September 23rd, 2009

Welcome to the cj Conference 2009. The agency that began in 1995, after about three years of mentorship from J. Marshall Hughes, is now undisputedly the largest and best full-service agency exclusively serving lawyers in the country. We work with the best collection of personal injury brands in the country. And, we are fortunate enough to host one of the most entertaining and inspiring conferences in the country for personal injury principles and management.

Our BHAG and niche are changing, but I am ready to shed a few of the qualifiers in what I just said:

  • “the best full-service agency exclusively serving lawyers in the country”
  • “the best collection of personal injury brands in the country”
  • “the most entertaining and inspiring conferences in the country for personal injury principles and management”

We dominate our industry, so now we should set our sights for larger targets.

You dominate your market, so now your sights should be set higher, as well.

Consider This

What is your firm’s identity? What can your brand stand for? How good can a job with your firm look on your employees’ resumes? To that end, one of our unwritten goals at the agency is doing everything in our power to open doors for ex-employees when they apply for positions in the city or in the advertising industry.

When someone mentions your brand, they should do so with the same reverence as Ritz-Carlton, Southwest Airlines, Starbucks, Google, or 3M. Decide right now that it is not enough to be the best in your current narrow field. The truth is it’s no longer a large enough challenge for what your firm has become. You and your brand must simply be recognized as one of the best—period.

Enjoy the cj Conference 2009. And please join me in thanking our meal sponsors every chance you get as well as every single attendee whose energy and presence are the real magic of our time together.
