Shaking the Vendor Machine for the Best Client Results

As the media industry changes, the cj media team stays on top of what’s going on so that we can recognize opportunities for our clients. That means keeping up with emerging media technologies way before it makes sense for our clients to use them.

cj Media does things in our own data-driven, collaborative, proven way. And what helps us with our approach are our relationships with vendors like Nielsen, AdIntel, and Strata. These connections are invaluable when it comes to getting the best results for our clients. An example of our commitment to collaboration with our vendors is this: Just this year so far, we’ve had over a dozen meetings–nearly 1 per week–with numerous potential digital vendors regarding CTV/OTT.

Going forward, we’ll take a similar approach with any emerging areas as they arise, because we want to ensure we have the most accurate information to make the best marketing decisions for our clients.

Contract Renewal Process

Part of our contract renewal process involves researching other options before extending. And we ask these pertinent questions at each turn:

  • Do we still need this?
  • Are there other providers?
  • Can we create it ourselves?

Then we track and document the pros and cons of every feature offered by considerable vendors. Although this does not always lead us to change our vendors, it helps us know that we are using the best possible options for the way we handle media.

Because this process requires a lot of thought and takes time, we start asking these questions months before a contract ends. High impact items like media software require even longer lead times to make sure that if we do make a change, we have enough time to ensure a smooth transition.

As evidenced by our team’s careful processes, the vendor machine is of utmost importance to us. We keep track of our current vendors, their competitors, and vendors who may be able to help us in the future.
